How to modify the file name format of your scan document?

I don’t know if you have this kind of experience. After scanning a bunch of files, you have to open all the files one by one to see the contents, and then rename each file. This is really a waste of time, and it feels like doing the same thing twice, it’s very inefficient! So good file naming rules are really important! When you scan different batches of documents, adding a title to the file name is very helpful for you to organize these documents. Another way to organize scanned documents is to use the date of the scanned document, which is the default method the scanner works. Formatting the title of your scans by date is helpful if you scan documents periodically. You would then have to file those documents into separate folders where you would easily remember exactly where they lie within your computer. These naming rules will allow you to be able to identify the contents of each document easier and quicker if properly named.

Modifying the file name settings of DocAction is actually very simple, there are two kinds of circumstances:

If you are using PDF or File button :

  1. Click the “Setup” button of “File Name”.
  1. In the opening ”File Name Setup”dialog, you may configure the desired filename. You may select ”Date and Time” or ”Custom” as the filename format. For example: You may enter ”Invoice_March” as ”Prefix”, and the modified filename is displayed in the bottom.

If you select ”Display the dialog after each scan to confirm file name prefix.” option, the dialog of “Confirm File Name Prefix” will appear after each scan. You are able to modify and confirm the saving folder as well as the file name prefix.

If you are using Scan, OCR or FTP button :

  1. In the opening ”Save Setup”dialog, you may configure the desired filename. You may select ”Date and Time” or ”Custom” as the filename format. For example: You may enter ”Invoice_March” as ”Prefix”, and the modified filename is displayed in the bottom.
