★★★★★ Professional Level Scanner

The scans I’m getting from the Plustek Opticfilm 120 are sharper, and the SilverFast Ai Studio 8 driver is working very well. The film holders are nicely made, easy to load, and seem to keep the film nice and flat, and scan speed is much faster.

★★★★★ Superlative Scanner

The initial results with this scanner, testing a wide range of images in a variety of materials, some images as old as 45 years, indicate that it is a superlative instrument. It’s a pleasure to use and produces results better than any in my experience in my own studio.

★★★★★ I Always Wanted One of These

7200 dpi was the attraction. That said, I’m learning that scanning at that resolution isn’t always best when the negative’s granularity doesn’t match 7200 dpi. I think for most negatives 2400 is best. The kit is great and the software excellent.

★★★★★ Great Scanner and Software

Just replaced my old 7600i + SilverFast 6.6 with this 8100 + SilverFast 8. What an improvement! The new software needed some re-learning, but once success is easy to use and more flexible than the 6.6. Colour slides and negatives come out very well.

★★★★★ Quick Easy and Powerful

I unboxed the Plustek OpticFilm 8200i and had the basic software installed in 5 minutes. Ten minutes of reading and playing around with settings and I was away scanning old 35 mm slides and negatives with excellent resolution. The colour reproduction is excellent. Build quality is robust and sleek.

★★★★★ As Good as It Gets

This scanner can out resolve any known film and has greater dynamic range, so everything on the film is going to be captured. The advantage of oversampling like this is that any slight quality loss due to colour correction, cropping or rotating will be invisible. Images can be downsized after processing.

★★★★★ I’m Very Pleased I Bought This Scanner!

I’m so glad I bought this scanner. I have so far scanned about 150 films so that’s heading towards 5000 scans and this scanner had been working just fine. Don’t waste money on a cheap scanner; you only want to do this once so spend the extra and do the job properly! Get a decent scanner like this one!

★★★★★ Wonderful Quality Scans

I am scanning the archives of a professional photographer with this scanner and I am very pleased with it. The build of the OpticFilm 120 is excellent, and it comes with every format film holder you would ever need. I am very pleased with this versatile unit.
